Melody teaches workshops and lessons for all ages, with over 10 years of teaching experience in voice, songwriting, guitar, piano, percussion and more. She holds a B.A. in Music and has studied folk music in America, India and Brazil. Melody has a background of extensive training in both classical and popular vocal styles, specifically Bel Canto, Speech Level, and CVT, and specializes in holistic voice technique that makes sense for folk musicians. She is an award-winning songwriter, leading collaborative workshops on the philosophy, spirituality and nitty-gritty rhetorical and musical tools of song craft. She is also occasionally a blogger and panelist on music industry topics and founder of the feminist roots music blog Dim Lights / Thick Smoke.
Melody has taught workshops and spoken on panels at IBMA, Wintergrass, Grey Fox, San Francisco Free Folk Fest, Pagosa Folk Fest, Big Horn Mountain Fest, Parkfield Bluegrass Fest and more. She also occasionally teaches at summer festivals with Bluegrass Camps for Kids.
